The most famous series to come out of Spain in recent times has been ‘Money Heist’ and has taken the world by storm. It became Netflix’s most-watched non-English series. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger as the Professsor (Alvaro Morte) ended up being held at gunpoint by Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) while Lisbon (Itziar Ituno) entered the Bank of Spain and help the gang out with their heist. Ever since,  fans have been waiting anxiously for an official announcement of the series’ return in the hope of finding out what happens next.

An official announcement hasn’t been made by Netflix so far, however, it was last year in November that the producer Jesús Colmenar revealed that they have yet another season planned. As per What’s On Netflix, Colmenar told the Spanish press, “That there is a fifth season can be said.” However, he also refused to give away any more details and said, “I will keep it to myself, I know too much and don’t want to spoil anything.” The cast of La Casa De Papel have also earlier teased the next season as Itziar Ituno had said that it’s unlikely that season four would be the last one.

Furthermore, Alvaro Morte, who plays The Professor in Money Heist, while speaking at the Chelsea Film teased fans about the end of his character. quoted him saying, “I’m aware this comment will make me very unpopular. The Professor was a very weird guy, a very lonely guy and what happened with the band and finding love, it’s a really small chapter in his life. If we’re talking about the end of the character, I think at one point, I’d like to see him go back to that loneliness, that solitary life that he’s more used to and seems more comfortable in.”
